Season 4 | Episode 81 | Sailing off the anchor and diving on the prop near Catalina Island

On this episode we haul up the anchor at Button Shell Beach so we can make our way to a new, hopefully friendlier, anchorage further North.

While we were fighting to haul up the 80lbs of 3/8 chain and 35lb anchor in 70 ft of water our long painter line found its way into our propeller and “Prop’ed” us leaving us with no engine, an anchor that was half way up after a hard struggle very near to the rocks.

We hoisted the sails and sailed away from land with the light breeze that was coming off the island and made our way to deeper water to finish hauling up the anchor.
