I decided to throw in a project video for all my subscribers that prefer these over the adventure videos, We will continue my Åland series next week but first….
I made one of the videos a while back showing how to (incorrectly) service a bronze winch… and boy did I get roasted in the comments. Most everyone was nice and a number of viewers explained to me what I got wrong and acknowledged what I got right. Not wanting to spread misinformation I took the video down and finally got around to making a replacement video.
On this video I show you how I disassemble the bronze winch on my 1965 Alberg 30. This model of winch is entirely bronze and single speed so it doesn’t get much easier. There are no bearings on my winches just bronze on bronze action (that sounds like the title of a porno).
I cleaned all the parts with diesel fuel and used “Harken Pawl Oil” on the Pawls and used “Harken Winch Grease” lightly on the shaft.
Thanks to my viewers who were kind to me on the last video and explained how I should be doing it.
