How to Document Your Boat with the United States Coast Guard
Hello Friends,
I made this video to walk you though how to Document your boat with the USCG.
Here are the things you will need : all of these forms can also be found at http://www.uscg.mil/nvdc
1. Application (CG – 1258) (this number is the USCG form number)

2. Simplified Measurements Form (CG – 5397)

3. A scanned copy of your boat’s Title and State Registration
4. Credit Card Authorization Form (CG – 7042)

UPDATE: Our Patron, Mitchell Thomas, sent us this link clarifying that if your boat is documented with the USCG in California you do NOT have to pay state registration!
