Episode 393 : Season 12 : Sailing Australia
Hello Friends,
On this episode we visit the historic Endeavour River at Cooktown where Captain Cook and his crew beached the HMS Endeavour to save her after striking a near by reef and officially discovering they were trapped inside what we now call the Great Barrier Reef.
We visited the Cooktown Museum and enjoyed seeing all of the artifacts from the varied past of this region. The highlight for me was seeing the anchor and a canon from the Endeavour that were jettisoned to save the ship when she was hard on the reef.
After a nice stay in Cooktown we took advantage of the winds and had a great over night sail to Lizard Island.
