The Race to Alaska (R2AK) is a 650NM boat race from Port Townsend Washington to Ketchikan Alaska with only one rule – the boat can’t have an engine. The most successful boats have been racing sailboats, and in this video we’re going to take a closer look at some of these, including the question of whether a monohull or multihull is better.
Specific boats we discuss include:
Team Elsie Piddock – Farrier F-25C
Team Mad Dog – Marstrom 32
Team Skiff Sailing Foundation – Fox 44
Team Pure and Wild – Custom 8.5m Trimaran
Team Big Broderna – Corsair F-31R
Team Sail Like a Girl – Melges 32
Team Skiff Sailing Foundation – Shock 40
Team Pear Shaped Racing – Custom 10.6m Trimaran
Team Pestou – Corsair F24 MkII
