See for yourself why this little known place is so amazing. We sail to this tiny island in the North Atlantic. It is off the beaten path and relatively unknown to the outside world and tourist travel.
What we found here was so incredible we didn’t want to leave. You know you are in a beautiful place when National Geographic videographers were filming a documentary in the same harbor. Enjoy this relaxing video and come along for a virtual sail with us every week 🙂

South African Durban Curry from Felicity
Ingredients
* 2 tablespoons ghee (or butter)
* 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
* 1 tablespoon of curry powder
* 1 to 2 whole cinnamon sticks
* 1 tablespoon of ground cumin
* 1 teaspoon of ground coriander
* 1 teaspoon of whole cumin
* 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper or Paprika (or both)
* 1 finely chopped or grated onion
* 1.4cm of fresh grated ginger
* 4 cloves of finely chopped garlic
* 8 pieces of chicken (preferably on the bone for flavour) I used beef.
* 2 chopped tomatoes or Tinned Chopped Tomatoes
* 1 tablespoon of tomato puree
* 1 sprig of curry leaves
* 2 potatoes (diced into half-inch cubes)
Method
1. In a heavy based pan, melt the butter in the vegetable oil, then add the spices to temper and become fragrant. Be careful not to burn the butter or the spices.
2. Add the onions, garlic and ginger and fry until softened. This normally takes about 3 minutes on a medium heat.
3. Turn the heat up to high and add the chicken or beef even better lamb, pieces to brown, regularly turning into the onion and spice mixture. (Alternately you can add the chicken to the sauce, after the tomatoes are cooked down after step 4)( I marinated the beef in plain yogurt for a few hours before)
4. After about 5 minutes, add the tomato puree and chopped tomatoes and give the pot a good stir.
5. Throw (🤣) in the diced potatoes, and curry leaves. Taste for salt, then allow to simmer for about 30 minutes on a low to medium heat. Poke the potatoes with a fork, so that they absorb the gravy.
6. Garnish with the fresh coriander leaves and you are ready to serve with your accompaniments, such as sambol etc.
Served the curry with yellow rice which is plain rice cooked with turmeric.
Served with a side tomato and onion salad as well as a banana with mayonnaise salad.
Want to know more about Kate, Curtis, and their around the world sailing expedition? They are two racing sailors that decided to travel the world and become globetrotting digital nomads. We enjoy making happy and inspirational sailing vlog videos of our journey as we continue to reach for our goal of sailing around the world, doublehanded, via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope aboard our 46′ J Boat.
Before we left we also watched the best sailing channels and want to pass on our adventure to you, as in inspiration, showing that you can do this also. We enjoyed relaxing videos from Gone With the Wynns, DIY videos from Project Atticus, and travel vlogs from Sailing La Vagabonde and SV Delos, among others.
More about our adventure on website and blog. There you can find out more about these sailing channel vloggers and their rescue dog Roxy, and how they sold it all to buy a boat and sail away for the ultimate voyage. You can also become a patron to support our videos and get your name on screen, access to behind the scenes footage, exclusive photos, and direct messaging for as little as $1.
