See The Dirty Side of Our Sailing Adventure [Ep. 55]

Everything happened so fast and we did all we could to keep things right way up. It was dirty, loud, and dangerous. We never thought it would be like this. Would we do it again?

See our secret of what we did when sailing to the island of Terceira. Hint: There are lots of rocks involved.

#sailing #rocks #ocean #waterfall #drone #offroad

The Azores are just one of our planned stops as we sail around the world. Join Curtis and Kate, along with their rescue dog Roxy, as they sail around the world on their J Boats J/46 sailboat.

0:00 Drone video of sailing in the Azores and waterfalls.

1:10 Anchor up, we sail away from Horta to sail to Terceira Island in the Azores.

2:10 We see the ocean explorer, a famous deep-sea exploration vessel. It’s mission is iMAR: Integrated assessment of the distribution of Vulnerable Marine Ecosystems along the Mid-Atlantic Dorsal in the Azores region

3:01 Sailing into a new intro – we made a new integrated intro for our video, please subscribe as we sail 🙂

5:19 We find hidden secret waterfalls in the cliffs as we explore with the drone. This is risky business, as if we crash the drone in these inaccessible cliffs, it is thousands of dollars and hours of footage lost forever.

7:54 Dropping our anchor as we arrive in Terceira harbor. This harbor is well protected with giant sea-walls. It is one of the few harbors which allow free anchoring in the Azores chain of islands.

8:50 Exploring the historic town of Praia de Vitoria and Roxy enjoys her freedom in a safe and beautiful vacation place for dogs and people.

11:35 We hit the rocks, hard and fast. Our dirty little secret in Terceira is exposed. We go on an epic off road adventure, touring the volcanic mountains on Polaris Razor UTVs.

16:04 Azores cheese factory and tasting is our last stop on the island. Azores is known for its dairy products, and it did not disappoint. We stock up with cheese for our upcoming voyages.

17:00 Deleted Scenes. Cows, dogs, and yes we crashed the drone again. This time we crashed into a tree.

Who are we?

We are a young YouTube sailing channel couple that sold it all and left to sail around the world. We enjoy traveling off the beaten path, so we are sailing around the world via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good hope, not through the Panama Canal like most others.

Meet Kate and Curtis. Kate was a school teacher. Curtis was a business consultant. Roxy the dog was rescued from a shelter. They bought a boat, spent months refitting it on a budget, and set off to see the world together.

Before leaving, like you, we watched videos of sailing and cruising, ocean crossings, and circumnavigating, every week. We enjoyed the best sailing channels such as Sailing La Vagabonde, SV Delos, Gone with the Wynns, Project Atticus, Sailing Nahoa, and more. We were inspired by these influencers and hope to return the favor. We want to show you the world and inspire you to break free and go sailing.

We are a little bit different than the rest. Our new sailing channel is dedicated to performance sailing and relaxing videos. Our goal is to teach you a little bit about sailing fast as we were both experienced offshore sailboat racers before leaving. We hope to teach you about sail trim, boat handling, safety, and navigation while passagemaking in bluewater.
