SAILING the BAHAMAS? 🇧🇸 Why you shouldn’t miss Eleuthera! [Ep. 17]

After thousands of sailing miles, we finally get to experience crystal clear water and the beaches of the Bahamas. We get hot exploring Eleuthera and then cool off by getting wet & salty at the Queen’s Bath and Glass Window.

The Queens Baths or the Hot Tubs are located 0.6 miles south of the Glass window Bridge on the rugged Atlantic side of the island. These natural pools (carved by centuries of waves pounding the rock) are filled with dramatic crashing waves, shells, and small sea life that wash over from the Atlantic Ocean. Once settled, this crystal clear water is warmed by the sun, creating a bath like a temperature tidal pool that’s perfect for soaking. The best time to visit the hot tubs is during low or medium tide. When visiting, it is best to wear water or tennis shoes.

One of nature’s true wonders, The Glass Window Bridge will certainly leave you breathless as you drink in the magnificent panoramic view. It is one of the few places on earth where you can compare the rich blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean on one side of the road and the calm Bight of Eleuthera (often incorrectly called the Caribbean Sea) on the other side, separated by a strip of rock just 30 feet wide.

About Us:

So who are we?

We are Kate and Curtis, a YouTube sailing couple and travel vloggers, with our sailing rescue dog Roxy, aboard SV Sweet Ruca, a J-Boats J/46 monohull.

We used to be sailboat racers on the great lakes (we still are…kind of). We bought a sailboat, re-fit it, with a goal to sail around the world, doublehanded, via the capes (Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope). Some say this is the wrong way or the hard way. To us, the challenge is part of the journey.

We will see if this will happen or not, as the “new normal” has put quite a damper on our travels. For now, we are holed up in the Windward Islands of the Caribbean making videos and scuba diving.

We are not Sailing La Vagabonde, Expedition Evans, Sailing Doodles, Sailing Uma, Project Atticus, MJ Sailing, Gone With the Wynns, or SV Delos.

We aren’t Vendee Globe Race or Volvo Ocean Race sailors, although sometimes Curtis wishes he was one. We don’t have a fancy catamaran, but we do have a pretty and fast monohull sailboat.

Cruising catamarans like the Fountaine Pajot’s, Leopards, and Lagoons can’t keep up, but we still like them 😉

We hope you enjoy our videos and vlogs and join us on our journey via our YouTube Channel.

‘Till Next Time 🙂
