In this episode of Sailing Supernova, we’re preparing for our 1,000-mile sail to Panama City! Tune in as we share tips and tricks on how to get your boat ready for an exciting journey.
We’ve got a week until we set sail for our next big adventure, heading straight down to Panama City! While we’re docked here, we’re making the most of our time and getting lots of boat jobs done. First on the list today isn’t crucial, but it will be helpful to have completed – painting even markings on our anchor chain. This way, we can know exactly how much chain we’ve let out rather than just guessing based on length.
After finishing the chain painting, we stowed it away in our boat’s chain locker. As time ticks by and we wrap up tasks like attaching jacklines and putting up flags, we’re constantly improving the safety measures on our boat while ensuring it’s properly prepared for sailing.
As we wait patiently to begin our passage, we install new storage solutions in various locations around the boat. We also tackle other projects, such as putting up an Australian flag on our hardtop, a symbol of home and pride.
We’re keeping a close eye on the weather as we get our boat ready, specifically for an infamous wind called ‘papagayos.’ This wind is known to howl at 40-50 knots when it’s at its strongest. While we could set sail before the perfect window arrives, we’ve chosen to wait until it’s just right.
In this episode, we’ve accomplished a lot to get our boat ready for the upcoming passage to Panama City. From painting even markings on anchor chain, attaching safety jacklines, and installing an Australian flag – there’s no doubt our boat is looking good and feeling secure!
Sail with us as we venture towards the southern hemisphere this season.
Almost ready for our biggest sail yet from Mexico to Panama
Are we ready?
Is the boat ready?
....
No... if everything was close ready we would have left already :-)
