Sailing with Whales! EP 12
November 25, 2018 by Sailing Starship Friendship | Language: EN Play Time: 00:11:11 | SAILING YOUTUBERS

We love Madeira! In this episode we dive in gin-clear waters, traverse the backroads of an ancient volcano, are saved from a terrifying gondola ride, get lost in the beauty of the island of flowers, and sail with Pilot Whales!
En Route to and exploring Ilha de Madeira. We sailed directly down wind, taking two long tacks to keep the boat on a broad reach all the way to our anchorage, Enseada da Abra… a small undeveloped cove on the east end of La Ilha de Madeira.
We anchor with about 140 ft of chain in about 25 to 30 ft of water in about 15 knots of wind. A cruise in the dinghy showed us just how beautiful the cove is. After enjoying our anchorage, we explore the island then set sail again–with WHALES! Read more on our blog. starshipsailing.com

Madeira is an autonomous region of Portugal (like the Azores). It is also in the north Atlantic Ocean, southwest of Portugal and north of the Canary Islands
The archipelago consists of Madeira, Porto Santo, and the Desertas, they are also associated with the Savage Islands, which are protected.
Madeira was claimed by Portuguese sailors in 1419. And has become a popular tourists destination famous for its wine and food, historical cultural value, flora and fauna, and striking landscapes.
