Stromboli welcomes us with one explosion after the other in the dark of the night. What a spectacular view yet very daunting to think that some of that hot lava becomes airborne and travels quite far with each eruption and could easily land on Sisu. So we kept our distance and watched the awesome display of colors with eruption. We also learn how they make paper from clothing. Amalfi is just one surprise after the other, awfully beautiful and rich in history. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

We purchased a Leopard 45 Catamaran to sail around the world and documented our thought and decision making processes with regards to the preparations of getting her kitted out for our needs. We want to visit off the beaten track places and need to prepare for ice bergs, storms, heavy seas, as well as nice tranquil tropical waters… Follow us on our journey, of which we’ve done more than 20 000 miles already, and hopefully you can live vicariously through our adventures.
We learned from legends when Sailing La Vagabonde upgraded from a monohull to a catamaran…SV Delos wants to upgrade to the latest Amel 51 monohull….Gone with the Wynns chose a Leopard Catamaran….choices choices choices. We looked at other sailing channels such as Wicked Salty, Satori, Jessica and Ryan, Catamaran Impi, MJ Sailing, Happy Together, Sailing Uma, Sailing Yacht Ruby Rose, Zingaro, Miss Lone Star, Sailing Doodles, Drenched, Lucky Fish gets Away, RAN Sailing, Out Chasing Star, Follow the Boat, Rigging Doctor, Sailing Lady Africa, Abandon Comfort, and many others to find our answers and solutions, whilst we prepared our yacht in Cape Town, South Africa.
Sailing Sisu
We are two crazies from South Africa, Frik & Petro. We knew absolutely nothing about sailing, but the ocean has always been calling. So we got rid of all our stuff, bought a Leopard 45 Catamaran, and set sail. Follow us as this story unfolds! This is a sea-life adventure captained by a couple of nomads who have built their lives on doing what inspires them in the moment. Join us and see how we break free of the traditional lifestyle, creating videos of our journey, adventures, life on board, and lessons learned along the way. It will be super rewarding if we can be an inspiration or contribute in any way to anybody wanting to fulfill their dreams. SISU (Finnish concept) is a grim, gritty, white-knuckle form of courage in situations where success is against the odds. Taking action against the odds and displaying courage and resoluteness in the face of adversity, in other words, deciding on a course of action and then sticking to that decision even despite repeated failures.
