After a few challenging weeks exploring the southwest coast of Turkey, we finally had perfect conditions to truly appreciate the amazing beauty this country has to offer.
The picturesque Anchorage in Wall Bay, just around the corner from Go Che, proved to be one of our favorites. Its calm waters, beautiful rock formations, and well-maintained hiking trails offered an incredible adventure that we won’t soon forget.
In our journey to explore remote villages accessible only by boat or hiking trail, we were lucky enough to be welcomed into the family-run marina and restaurant near the village. This small community, tucked away in a remote Peninsula, boasts 150-160 years of history with generations living on-site, producing their own food, and managing the electricity.
We had the opportunity to learn more about the local honey production in this remote village. By donning beekeeping suits and getting up close with thousands of bees, we learned that harvesting honey doesn’t necessarily anger the bees – as long as the beekeeper is careful and knowledgeable.
A highlight of our journey was discovering a hidden ancient city, full of stone structures, intricate designs, and possible tombs. As amateur archaeologists, we couldn’t resist exploring the site further, stumbling upon columns, inscriptions, and even a possible tomb with bones.
While sailing Turkey has been an unforgettable experience, we faced several boating challenges during our adventure. Our toilet and washing machine suffered from leaks, causing us to scurry for temporary fixes while searching for the appropriate parts in local dealer networks.
To restock our supplies, we took advantage of the unique opportunity to shop on a floating grocery store that visits remote anchorages like ours. With limited fresh produce available, it’s always nice to know we can rely on the convenience and efficiency of this mobile shopping experience.
Sailing Turkey has offered us unforgettable experiences – from picturesque anchorages, to the ancient ruins scattered throughout the remote villages, and even our unexpected run-ins with bees and amateur archaeology. We’ve faced some challenges but always overcome them by relying on each other’s skills and support. Our adventure continues as we navigate these incredible waters and explore all that Turkey has to offer.
If you’re interested in experiencing a sailing adventure in this magical destination, take the leap! Embrace the challenges and surprises that come with exploring a new country and immerse yourself in its culture. You won’t regret it!

For the past couple we’ve been exploring the Turkish coast and honestly it’s been much more challenging than we expected. And we’ve gone through it all because Turkey is home to one of the most beautiful cruising grounds in the world. And this week everything finally goes right for us and we’re blown away by just how amazing this country can be.
