For weeks, we’ve been busy excavating our homesite here in the Smoky Mountains, along with a second pad for a future shelter structure. But before we can even start building, we have to give up the comfort of our rental house and adjust to life in a tiny trailer… with two kids, a dog, and no guarantees that it’ll work out.
For now, we’ll be living at Turkey Creek Campground in Almond, North Carolina, until we’re ready to move onto our land. It’s exciting—and a little terrifying—because if we can’t make this work, our whole plan could fall apart.
