We are on a road trip to find a mountain homestead where we can build our own home, a massive workshop, a guest house for our folks, and maybe even a couple airbnbs. But the tricky part is that we’re taking on this project without a whole lotta money.
And so the last stop on our road trip is a region that’s been through some pretty serious economic hardship. West Virginia often ranks as one of the poorest states in the U.S. But it’s also one of the most beautiful, with tons of stunning nature, large swaths of undeveloped land, and world class adventure activities. Not to mention one of the best songs of all time. And several towns in the state are now transforming from run down coal towns to thriving tourism hubs.
So this week we’re visiting Fayetteville WV and the New River Gorge National Park to decide if this playground for adventure seekers could be a good investment and if this is where we want to raise our family. But we are running out of time because I’m due with our second daughter Scarlett in just a few weeks. So we need to find our new home and fast.
