Sailing an old fixer upper sailboat around the Caribbean was way more work than I ever imagined. The boat was able to get us from point A to point B but the whole time it was falling apart just a little faster than we were able to fix her. So for years as we limped around the Caribbean, we had a ton of amazing adventures, but we were slowly losing ground.
When we were given the opportunity to outfit our dream boat from the ground up, we quickly realized that building the ultimate off-grid sailboat comes with it’s own set of challenges, and compared to coastal cruising in Central America, crossing oceans with thousands of miles to the nearest land is a whole different ball game and it felt like we were finally jumping head first into the major leagues of long distance sailing.
