One of the last steps before installing the chainplates is polishing. It is a tedious and time consuming job but it is a worth while long term investment to prevent corrosion on the rig's most vulnerable members.
Introducing the Mast Tampon! In order to keep the wires in our mast from hitting the inner walls and making an obnoxious clanking sound when the boat rolls, we shoved foam into the mast at 5 foot intervals. Check out the process.

Before installing our new chainplates we decided to modify the existing gussets to a stronger design that would allow for easier inspection of the chainplates, a necessity when sailing long term in the tropics. Watch to see how we did it.
