We hired a local crew to install the septic on our land in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina, and watching them work an excavator on this terrain was seriously impressive. Steep slopes, soft ground, and rain in the forecast made this a tough install — but it’s the one project standing between us and finally moving our family onto this property.
For months we’ve been living in a campground with our two little girls while we’ve slowly turned this raw land into our future homestead. Getting septic in the ground means we can finally get power, move our trailer here, and apply for our first building permit. It’s a huge milestone for us, and one we’ve been waiting on for a long time.
As a bonus, we also visited the local sawmill run by the same crew — and got to watch them mill the biggest tree we cut down on our land into beautiful boards for a future dining table.
Thanks for following along as we take one more big step toward calling this land home.
