I’ve framed walls before, but they were usually for small sheds where “close enough” was good enough. This is different. This is my actual home in Bryson City, North Carolina, and every mistake I make now is a mistake I’ll have to live with (literally).
In the first half of today’s episode, my dad and I take on the challenge of framing our first interior wall solo. The goal? Don’t repeat the mistakes of the past. No twisted studs, no “good enough” corners—just pure, square framing.
Then, the real pros arrive.
I’ve got my friends from Ellis Earthworksand Custom Homes come to help me finish the rest of the interior walls. These guys are a classic Southern Mountain crew—fast, incredibly skilled, and hilarious to be around. They’ve been teaching me the trade, and in this video, we’re sharing the framing tips and tricks that make the difference between an amateur build and a professional house.
Let’s get to work!
Huge thanks to the crew who helped make this happen — links to everyone involved below.
