After months of searching and living on the road, we finally found a wild, two-and-a-half acre property in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina that felt like the perfect place to build our dream homestead.
But there’s a catch…
Before we can close on the land, the county has to approve our septic application. And if they say no, we lose everything.
This week, everything comes to a head as the county inspector, our excavator, the well driller, and the listing broker all show up to decide our fate. Will this raw piece of land finally become our future home? Or are we back to square one?
🔍 In this episode:
-How septic permits work when building on raw land
-What a county inspection actually looks like
-Our plan for managing property lines and setbacks
-Lessons learned about easements and well placement
-Our honest reaction to the county’s decision
New to the channel?
We’re Jordan and Desiree, and we’re building our mountain homestead from scratch, documenting every success, mistake, and lesson along the way.
