The Epic Search for Wally
The duo embarks on this quest armed with some prior research that suggests the elusive creature might be found hanging out under a permanent dive platform set up to cater to snorkelers who disembark from boats. Due to the seasonal finfish closure in place, they can’t access it as early as they would have liked but instead make a stop at Markam and Sand Cay for an overnight stay.
Discovering the Enchanting Reef
Apart from Wally, they stumble upon a reef teeming with life. In their search for the creature they expected some level of activity but what greeted them surpassed their expectations, leading to one of the most memorable dives in their sailing adventures.
The Magical Fish Spawning Event
Their exploration of this new reef area not only led them to Wally but also uncovered an astonishing fish spawning event. Schools of Red Bass, Big Eye, and other species were congregating, a sight described by the duo as
With a fin fish closure in place we decide to do the touristy thing and head off in search of Wally the Wrasse. What we didnt know is that we'd come across one of the most amazing things we've witnessed underwater.
