Returning to the boat after 8 months!!! It's not all rainbows & butterflies (Sailing Popao) Ep.47

Sailing Popao: Return to the Boat After 8 Months – Episode 47 Recap

After an exciting episode where we finally return to our beloved sailing yacht Popao, we’re diving into the highlights and the behind-the-scenes of this long-awaited moment. With anticipation building in the air, let’s recap what happened as we step back on board.

The Long Absence

It’s been 8 long months since we last visited Popao, a significant period for any boat owner. Despite our best efforts to keep up with updates through the channel, there’s nothing quite like being back on board. Our hiatus wasn’t just a break – it brought its share of challenges and life changes that affected our timeline and preparedness.

The Excitement & Nerves

The feeling upon returning is a blend of excitement and nerves. What will we find? Is everything as we left it, or have we faced new issues in our absence? The anticipation builds as we approach the boat for the first time, each of us bracing for surprises – both good and bad.

Initial Inspection & Cleaning

Starting with an inspection, we’re amazed by how Popao has weathered our time away. She looks in remarkably good condition, far better than expected. Dust, bugs, and general grime accumulate over months, so the cleaning session is comprehensive and satisfying.

Addressing Technical Issues

The technical inspection uncovers a few areas of concern. From the watermaker leaking to the blown fuse on the tap switch, these tasks become immediate priorities. The joy in fixing issues and seeing Popao function well again is palpable, each repair another milestone towards readiness for sailing.

Looking Ahead

The next step? Pulling her out at Ross Haven Marine for the necessary TLC. Despite our enthusiasm, the anticipation of the first haul-out is nerve-wracking. Yet, we’re more than ready, excited to tackle this together and ensure Popao remains in top shape.

Thank You & Looking Forward

We express gratitude to our patrons for their ongoing support, as well as those who show off the Popao merchandise. It’s through this shared passion that we keep sailing forward. Join us for the next episode, where the focus shifts to tackling oyster farms and a visit to the chandler. We’re ready to address our new challenge head-on and ensure Popao is as prepared as possible for another sailing season.
After 8 months away from Popao we arrive back in Townsvillle and put in a bunch of elbow grease to bring Popao back to her former glory.
