SEGUIN ISLAND MAINE LOBSTER BOAT WEDDING IN THE FOG

Seguin Island Maine was our next stop, where we took photos of a sunrise wedding on a lobster boat, hiked the trails and toured the lighthouse with a rare fresnel lens still in operation.

Our journey to Seguin Island from Jewell Island was just a short hop – 15 miles – on a reasonable weather day with the sun shining upon arrival. Anchoring in the bay is a bit of a challenge, so they have mooring balls there for our use. We actually ended up using two mooring balls – one in front and one in back, so we wouldn’t swing into the rocks – or the other 2 boats in the harbor. Catamarans tend to swing around differently than monohulls, so we are always watchful of that.

Stephen’s nautical wedding photography did a wonderful job capturing the wedding from the water. They brought their own photographer, but she was on the lobster boat with no way to get shots from the water. This couple was from Texas, and were not in the lobster business, but chose this wedding venue anyway. Stephen’s pay? Two Maine lobsters!

We then hiked the Seguin Island trails and visited the lighthouse with the island’s caretaker, Lee. Wonderful island to visit. The trails are challenging, and some are not even trails, but rock paths along the ocean that you just “scurry over”, according to Lee. Easy for Maine folks, not so easy for us Southerners.
