SAILING BLACKLISTED!’, they share an encounter that took an unexpected and distressing turn when officials tried to blacklist their boat from leaving Turkey.
Sailing Through Turbulent Waters
The incident began in the bustling city of Marmaris, where Sailing Pickle Family had stopped to check out of the country. Instead of a seamless process, they found themselves in a tangled web of corruption and bureaucracy that threatened their journey.
Dealing with Corrupt Officials
The core issue arose when officials at the customs office insisted they needed an agent to process their exit from Turkey. This insistence seemed unwarranted, given that they had all the necessary documents and even contacted the government directly for confirmation.
Encounter with a Hard Master
The situation took a dramatic turn when they visited the harbor master, where a clerk started filling out their forms but suddenly claimed he couldn’t process it. Despite having all their paperwork in order and facing repeated refusals, the family sensed corruption at play.

What an eventful few days we have in this episode! I have to apologise in advance for my ranting...... it was extremely frustrating and annoying, being messed about unnecessarily by these officials! Especially when you're on a tight time frame to try and get to another country, check in and pick up family who are visiting in just a few more days!! Huge windy banging sail which we hadn't planned on, but we find an excellent agent and restore my faith in the beautiful Turkish people!
