While enjoying the picturesque coastlines and sunsets of Turkey, Nikki realized her elbow had turned purple, swollen, hot to touch, and very painful. Initially, she thought it might be a cut that got infected while living on the boat, a common issue among boaters and sailors.

Nikki and her family, sailing on Pickle the catamaran, have been documenting their adventurous lives aboard since having an epiphany in an ICU with melioidosis. Their recent adventure turned into a struggle when Nikki encountered severe pain and inflammation on her elbow. Little did she know it would lead them to fight infections in remote locations while sailing in Turkey.
