We Didn’t Expect THIS on Safari… (Big 5 Spotted!)
This week we leave the comfort of our Leopard catamaran behind and trade the open ocean for the wild heart of Africa 🌍🐘

(Yes — even a leopard sighting was part of this unforgettable adventure!)

With fairly low expectations, our travel family set off on a true bucket-list experience: a safari at Hluhluwe–Umfolozi Game Reserve… and wow, were we blown away. Thanks to our incredible tour drivers, packed with knowledge and stories, the bush came alive right before our eyes.
Against all odds, we saw all of the Big 5, including a jaw-dropping encounter with an elusive lion that hadn’t been spotted in the park for over two weeks 🦁. And just when we thought it couldn’t get better, over 50 elephants crossed directly in front of our vehicle, stopping us in our tracks and leaving us completely speechless.

From boat life to the African bush, this travel vlog captures the suspense, the wildlife, and the unforgettable moments that made this safari a massive highlight for our family. We are a suburban blended family that has raised our 3 older children and now want to travel the world. After planning and saving for the past 6 years, we are now embracing our dream of sailing around the world on our Leopard 45 sailing catamaran. Follow our journey as we Circumnavigate the Globe in 3-4 years on a budget of $4,800/month (food, communication, fuel, insurance, transportation, mooring/marina & fun). We left the USA in October 2023 and plan to visit 26 countries on 5 different continents all while worldschooling a budding teen in our off grid tiny house.
