After eleven years of sailing around the world, we’ve always had deep respect for customs, immigration, and biosecurity, and we’re meticulous about following the rules wherever we go. We’ve never had major issues clearing into a country, largely because we take preparation seriously—though things can still go sideways, as we learned the hard way in the Maldives (mostly Ben’s fault, involving a broken speargun and a poor decision). The reality is that border agents carry significant authority, and when you’re entering a foreign country, that’s something we acknowledge and work to mitigate, just like we do with weather and any other risk at sea.
