A couple of weeks ago, I checked my new navigation software and saw that all the bridges towards the historical city of Brea in the Netherlands could open up or were high enough for me to pass. So, I then decided to go visit Brea because it is called the pearl of the south of the Netherlands. This is the last leg to Brea, and at the end of this film, we will see if this is really the pearl that people talk about. How about that? Want to join me? Come on then let’s go!
As I travel along, I pass another bridge again, 7 meters high. So, I will check it out and drive very slowly to see if it is definitely 7 meters or more. Slowly goes the boat.
According to the map, there should be a road bridge, but from what I see, there isn’t yet. Instead, there is a train bridge about 400 meters away. I also know from what I saw on the map while preparing for this trip that it is only 2.5 meters high, and from the sign, I see that I am not allowed to go on the right side but must follow the left gate. However, there is no VHF channel bridge is operated on distance.
The height of the power bridge is 750mm. I am glad that I have the mast down. Let’s take a look:
Thanks to the sign and communication, I successfully pass under the bridge with a height difference of only centimeters. It really feels like summer over there!
This bridge is mapped as 7 meters high, but I would think it’s a bit lower from my experience. Of course, this time everything went smoothly, and you can hear the thunder in the background over there. Let’s take a look; it doesn’t rain yet.
When I enter the harbor, the entrance of Brea feels a bit like that sign; it says welcome ‘H’ but then yeah okay. The sign says ‘Paron Haven,’ so visitors’ haven.
To be honest, Brea really does not live up to expectations. I have no plans for more NOD, so let’s go in.
Brea is considered the pearl of the south of the Netherlands, but unfortunately, it does not live up to its nickname. While you cannot judge a city just by its harbor, my first impressions have left me feeling quite disappointed.
Since Brea has not met my expectations, I will head for the commercial harbor and take a look to see if there’s more over there. As I walk through this area, I notice some locals who are smoking pot in their speedboats.
In the end, it is up to you to decide if a visit to Brea is worth the trip. Thanks for watching!
The city Breda is called the pearl of the south of the Netherlands. Join me on this last leg towards Breda to see if I agree with this expression.

Cams aboard Lady Liselot. Check them out on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3P5jFxP (but the silly thing is: these https://amzn.to/3T1AYB2 almost are alike).
The 4 camera's I use to produce my outdoor footage, are so called PTZ - P(an) T(ilt) Z(oom). Zoom, I only use on the rear camera, when I am underway. As you have seen I use the pan and tilt a lot. And in the dark they produce a great (short view) infrared image. I even can navigate in a marina at night on my cams.
Since they all are so called "IP camera's", each have an unique (hardwired) IP address (no DNS) in my network.

This channel follows a format: "Join Henk-Jan, whilst he cruises on motorvessel Lady Liselot through The Netherlands and a little further". That's it. This automatically means: no boat tour and no boat jobs. These subjects do not fit the format. So, I aim to give you a feel for what life's like aboard for me and hope you enjoy it, perhaps relate to it or maybe even learn something. But it's simply my story and the way I do things. Nothing more, nothing less.

Nederlands.
