Last month we pulled into a marina for 3 days to complete an ongoing rigging project to replace all of our stays. While in the marina, we installed all but one – the forestay.
It was finally time to install it and the best marina we could do it in was 25 miles north in Carriacou.
So we set off for a day sail and immediately got a whooping from some pretty hefty seas and strong winds. In the process of raising our canvas, we tore our staysail – Our first ripped sail of our journey so far and not surprising given its age.
Despite the wild weather and ripped sail we had a great journey and put a hook in in Tyrell Bay, Carriacou that afternoon.
The next day we inspected the tear after assessing that it was a bit beyond our skills we got it straight to a sailmaker to repair. The next task was the take off our Genoa in preparation for our marina time.
