Welcome back to our weekly vlog! In this episode we return to our boat in Ponta Delgada and after settling in for only 2 days we got a phone call… “How quickly could we get to Turkey to sail on a Kraken 50?”
Our answer… tomorrow!
So, we jumped on the next flight we could get and once again said goodbye to our own boat, Millie.
Travelling during these Covid times is still tough, especially for non EU citizens such as ourselves. Our first hurdle came when we were told we couldn’t board the flight to Brussels as we weren’t EU citizens. This was the first out of 2 flights we were meant to take… not a great start.
After resolving the first crisis we continued on our way across Europe to Istanbul, Turkey where Kraken Yachts is located. Once there, we finally caught sight of the boat we were to be staying on for 5 days, a Kraken 50.

In this episode we’re trialling using stock video to set some scenes where we otherwise wouldn’t be able to use our drone due to drone rules and regulations (ie. in the middle of central Istanbul) so we’ve used Storyblocks for some stock videos.

Sailing Millennial Falcon

What do you do when the whole world seems hell bent on getting a mortgage, buying houses and procreating but your not quite ready to join them? Well, we decided to scrounge every penny we had, buy a boat and chase the adventure of a lifetime in the hope of challenging the assumption that prolonged world travel is only for the mega rich and the retired. Khiara and I (Adam) are from Melbourne, Australia. We bought the Millennial Falcon, a 1981 Tayana 42, in Port Charlotte, Florida in February of 2018 and have been repairing her in many weird and wonderful places ever since! It's been one hell of an adventure so far and we hope to continue for as long and as far as we can! We saved for many years to realise our goal. Watching other sailing channels, in addition to brightening our work days, gave us the hope and drive to continue saving and eventually take the plunge! So please join us on our adventure. I hope we make you laugh and can prove to some of you that it can be done!
