We SOLD our boat : 3 years of work in one episode

Welcome aboard the sailing boat restoration journey! This is the ultimate guide to following us through transforming Still Melody, our 44-ton steel monohull cruising yacht, over a period of three years. Our goal was to create a functional and beautiful vessel worthy of embarking on global adventures.

The Beginning

Back in early 2018, we first laid eyes on our future project – an abandoned steel yacht named Still Melody. Upon closer inspection, it was clear that a great deal of work and dedication would be required to return the boat to its former glory.

The Work Begins

Our first major task was cutting out large patches of corroded steel, including the steering system and gas locker areas. This revealed significant amounts of new, good quality steel to be welded in place. Our journey involved many long days and nights of hard labor, from sanding and grinding surfaces to painting the new steel, installing systems and components, as well as learning invaluable lessons along the way.

Overcoming Challenges

As we progressed through this monumental task, numerous obstacles arose, ranging from uncooperative weather to broken tools and injuries. However, with perseverance and a united front, we managed to push forward and tackle each challenge head-on.

Personal Milestones

Naturally, not only was the boat being transformed during this period but so were we. Personal milestones such as marriage and even an unexpected pregnancy added depth to our journey.

Final Touches

The culmination of three years’ worth of labor saw Still Melody return to the waters in much-improved condition, boasting modern systems and a striking aesthetic overhaul. Throughout this entire endeavor, we learned about boatbuilding, patience, resilience, perseverance and the true power of teamwork.

A Heartfelt Thank You

We want to express our sincere gratitude to all those who supported us along the way, be it through donations or simply by sharing and enjoying our content. We are eternally grateful for each like, comment, share, view, physical help given on Still Melody, and the countless words of encouragement.

The Future

With our journey now culminating in a fully restored yacht, we are excited to embark on new adventures across the globe. Our thanks extend beyond mere words – join us as we sail the high seas and create more content along the way!
