Sailing 8 hours upwind to this. Worth it? (Ep 305)
Sailing 120nm hard upwind was always going to be a challenge. When the wind increased to 25kts things got very bumpy and I was faced with a decision, reef lots and slow right down or continue with lots of sail and get to the shelter of an island faster. I knew what Marie would prefer and I knew my own feelings. Did I find a compromise?
We also find ourselves in one of the best anchorages ever. A stunning island called Pisang, just us and a local fishing family with whom we share many things.
Then we sail to Fakfak, a small city on the Papuan coast.
