A Cyclone is about to hit Darwin and we’ve got plans to leave town the exact same day. What would you do. Stay with the boat or get the hell out of it?
It was a stressful few days as first we had to move the boat from the mooring we were on and organise to get into a marina. The locals had all said “cyclones in November/December?? no way!)
Getting into a marina up here involves having your underwater areas checked and treated for unwanted species of shellfish. This involves staying on a pontoon for 10 hours while not using any thru-hulls, engine etc. The we had to organise insurance after being without any in Indonesia.
We finally got into the marina and made the call to leave. We’d booked this road trip to Brisbane a while before and there were penalties involved if we didnt deliver the vehicle in time. (Darwin-Brisbane road trip coming up next)
