After a long day of travel from EST to Panama, we’re excited to introduce our new sailboat – an incredible custom-built vessel that’s been upgraded to take us wherever our adventurous hearts desire.
The Boat That Fits Our Lifestyle
We’ve taken some time to explore our new 45ft custom-built aluminum sailboat and are thrilled with the difference it makes in our sailing experience. This cutter-style boat has been designed for us, taking into account all our needs and preferences.
Upgraded Features and Benefits
One of the major upgrades we’re excited about is the ease with which we can handle our sails. Unlike our previous boat, Gypsy, this one features a furling unit for better adjustment during sailing.
Additionally, it has a Code Zero sail on a continuous furler and double spreader rig. The winches placed on the mast allow us to easily hoist all the sails. This new layout gives us more options and better control over our sailing adventures.
Improved Safety Measures
The safety of our boat is a top priority for us, which is why we have two anchors – a 25 kg Rocna and a Bruce anchor as backup. Our new vertical Lewmar capstan windlass allows us to manage the ropes with ease.
Spacious Storage Options
We have ample storage space in this new sailboat, including a large locker up front measuring 5T. This not only serves as crash bulkhead protection but also provides sufficient room for our belongings and gear.
Comfortable Living Spaces
With a hard Dodger and cockpit, we can now enjoy more comfortable seating while sailing. Our high cockpit coaming allows us to lie down on a daybed that functions like an actual bed during long passages. This new feature makes our journey even more enjoyable.
Upgrades and Adjustments
We’ve made several adjustments to ensure that this sailboat perfectly suits our needs. The boom has been shortened to allow for a curtain from the Dodger to the bimini, giving us added protection against sunlight and rain.
While some areas may require further upgrades or changes, such as adjusting the table size in our Galley, we’re excited about this new chapter in our sailing journey. Our previous boat, Gypsy, lacked certain features that this aluminum sailboat provides.
The Perfect Vessel for Cold Weather Adventures
Our custom-built 45ft aluminum sailboat was designed specifically to tackle colder climates. With spray close-cell foam lining the entire boat, including insulation down to the bilge, we’ll be well-equipped to handle challenging weather conditions.
Comfortable Living Spaces
The interior of our new sailboat is spacious and cozy, with a large table in the salon, multiple heaters throughout, and well-planned storage solutions. These features make us confident that we’ll be comfortable during our expeditions into higher latitudes.
