Welcome back to another episode of our channel Sailing Holly Blue! If you’re new here, we’re Ross, Laura, Josh, and Noah – a family of four sailing around the beautiful Greek islands and sharing our adventures with you.

The Ionian Adventure Continues…

After the challenges of season 3, we decided it was time for a fresh start. Our journey took us sailing through Greece and finally to the stunning Ionian islands – having already enjoyed the delights of Zakinthos, we couldn’t wait to explore Kefalonia.

A Slice of Paradise

Sparta is the perfect slice of paradise – a peaceful and breathtaking bay where we dropped our anchor into crystal clear water surrounded by sand, rocks, and stunning cliffs. The seagulls were out in full force, singing their morning song as the world around us seemed to stand still.

Engine Issues and Overcast Mornings

We did have a little trouble with our engine while we were there, but with the skilled hands of Ross fixing the leaky fumes issue, we were ready to set sail again. A sudden overcast morning and some swells meant it was time to move on, making for a rather eventful start to our Kefalonia adventure.

Navigating the Unknown

We faced some difficulties while navigating through the narrow entrances and finding space to drop our anchor at Scara. Despite these obstacles, Kefalonia didn’t fail to impress with its crystal clear water, sandy beaches, and fantastic holding for your anchor.

Clean laundry and Good Company

A trip to the local launderette brought us closer to our Greek experience. With €7 per load, we couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming place – it reminded us that despite being surrounded by beautiful nature and amazing adventures, there’s nothing quite like clean clothes.

A Relaxing Ride in the Ionian

Sailing around the Ionian islands has given us a new appreciation for the simpler side of sailing. The winds might not be as strong, and the waves aren’t steep like those on the other side of Greece; but it’s been an easy ride – one we’ve truly deserved after last year’s trials.

The Magic of Caves

No visit to Kefalonia would be complete without exploring the stunning Melani caves – a magical place that we plan on visiting three times in one week, with each cave offering something truly unique. And, who can forget our dive into the drinkable fresh water in the Blue Cave? Truly unforgettable.

Greek Salads and Sailing

A taste of a traditional Greek salad is a must when sailing the Ionian. At just €4, we indulged in a sumptuous feast at a local eatery before venturing out on our adventures.

Finding Home

Kefalonia has become like a home away from home. In these idyllic Greek waters, we’ve grown stronger as sailors and parents while experiencing breathtaking scenery along the way.
