Demolishing an Old Abandoned Farmhouse on an Off-Grid Property
Ever since moving to our 8-acre off-grid property, an old abandoned farmhouse has been an unwelcome eyesore. Over the past year, we’ve gone back and forth about what to do with it: demolish it, renovate it, or turn it into something useful. Finally, the time has come to say goodbye to this structure and make way for new developments on our land. The Demolition Process To remove the farmhouse, we enlisted the help of big machinery workers. The initial plan was to keep the foundation and possibly build something new on it, but upon closer inspection, we realized that wasn’t feasible due to weak spots in the structure. The Transformation After the demolition, a sense of relief washed over us as we looked at our property without the eyesore that once occupied it. Now, the land looks smaller and more manageable. We are considering building a small utility center or garden near the foundation, utilizing this space in the future for our needs. Next Steps With the old farmhouse gone, we can now focus on other projects and developments. Our immediate goal is to finish our driveway loop and create a permanent spot for our RV. Once those tasks are complete, we’ll be ready to tackle new challenges together. A Look Ahead We’re excited about the journey ahead and all that this property has in store for us.
