Exploring Ibiza’s Northern Beauty with Sailing Frida
Welcome to the second part of our adventure as we sail around the stunning island of Ibiza. Join us as we uncover the most exquisite anchorages, delve into hidden caves, and soak in the breathtaking landscapes along the northern coast. This episode marks our return trip to the mainland, but not without a few exciting moments to share! Alongside beautiful sunsets, we’ll also reflect on our unforgettable story thus far. Our journey began in Ibiza where we bought AI for the seven pilot Saloon. We named her Freda and Viit is her home port. Our Journey & Anchorages in IbizaIn this episode, we explore several anchorages along the northern side of Ibiza. Our adventure took us to places like La Ràpita near Piti and the beautiful Moro Coast. These areas are not only breathtaking but also provide a sense of peace and tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere. The Beauty of Northern IbizaIbiza’s northern coast is characterized by impressive cliffs, steep descents, and numerous bays. Many of these bays are incredibly deep, making anchoring a bit tricky but undeniably beautiful. One such place we considered for anchorage was an incredible cliff location; however, due to its remoteness and challenging access, we decided against it. The beauty of the area, though spectacular, wasn’t accessible enough for us.Dolphins and the Journey to DeniaAs we prepared for our journey to Denia, the wind died down completely, forcing us to use the engine. The calm waters of the Mediterranean provided an eerie yet beautiful backdrop as we navigated through. The stillness was only broken by the appearance of dolphins swimming alongside our boat. Their playful antics and jumps created a memorable moment in our sailing experience. The Arrival in DeniaAfter what felt like an incredibly slow yet enjoyable sail, we finally reached the mainland, specifically Denia. This journey was marked by our success at slow sailing – a skill crucial for enjoying the sea without rush or haste. Upon arrival in Denia, we moored Freda and completed some final preparations before embarking on our next adventure. Conclusion & Next StepsIn this episode, we’ve showcased the beauty and challenges of sailing around Ibiza. We have also learned to appreciate the tranquility of slow sailing and the joy of unexpected encounters with wildlife like dolphins. As we leave Denia, we look forward to our next stop – the castle. This marks another step in our journey of exploration and adventure on the sea. Until then, take care and happy sailing! This is the second part where we go back in our own track towards the Spanish mainland giving us the opportunity to revisit some of our favorite places on the Balearics.
We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our sailboat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is sail the Mediterrainean Sea and really enjoy life.
Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans.
Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019
