For those who may not know, Sailing Fair Isle is a delightful YouTube series that documents the incredible voyage undertaken by couple Chris and Jools. They set sail on their boat, Fair Isle, with dreams of traveling around the world in mid-50s. Their adventure began by selling their house and downsizing to the lovely Christian 48t yacht. Over time, they have become well-respected filmmakers and journalists while exploring various locations across the UK, Mediterranean Sea, and eventually Caribbean.

What is Sailing Fair Isle Feature Length?

The feature-length episode of Sailing Fair Isle focuses on providing an all-in-one binge-watching experience for fans of the show. Instead of following along with new episodes every fortnight, viewers can now enjoy a compilation of everything from the beginning. This makes it easier to catch up or revisit some amazing moments that occurred during their initial journey.

The First Leg: Starting in Eastborne

Chris and Jools’ incredible adventure began in Eastborne, where they spent two years refitting their boat, Fair Isle. From there, they sailed along the southern coast of England to Plymouth before meeting up with a group of similar boats for the Ark Portugal event.

Setting off on a sunny summer day, the couple embarked on their life-changing adventure filled with excitement and anticipation. As they journeyed through various locations in Europe and the Caribbean, Sailing Fair Isle documented every remarkable moment for their adoring fans.

A Compilation of Highlights

The feature-length episode allows viewers to witness breathtaking moments, including gorgeous coastal views and heart-stopping encounters with wildlife such as seals and dolphins. Not only does the series showcase the amazing places they visit, but it also highlights the importance of good preparation and proper navigation techniques when traveling through unfamiliar waters.

The Storm in Bay of Biscay

One event that stood out during their journey was the storm they encountered while sailing through the treacherous waters of the Bay of Biscay. It tested not only their boat’s resilience but also their mental and emotional strength as they battled high winds and monstrous waves.

This event demonstrated how important it is for all adventurers, whether on land or sea, to be prepared for unexpected situations and learn from each challenge faced along the way. Despite these hardships, their determination and perseverance allowed them to push through these obstacles, strengthening their bond with one another and with fellow sailors participating in the Ark Portugal race.

A Journey Worth Sharing

Sailing Fair Isle has been an amazing journey not just for Chris and Jools, but also for their audience. By sharing highlights of their adventure in a feature-length compilation episode, viewers now have a convenient way to catch up on memorable moments while preparing for future episodes.

If you want to see our journey from the beginning this is a compilation of the best bits from the moment we set off from the UK in May 2019 focusing on the sailing and the places we visit.
We hope it will give a flavour of what it's like to live on a boat and sail from country to country.

This first installment takes us from Eastbourne, in the South East of England, to Lagos in the Algarve, Portugal. It shows our favourite places along the South coast of the UK. Crossing the infamous Bay of Biscay, chased by a force 10 storm, then tracking down the whole Atlantic coast of Portugal with ARC Portugal. Arriving in Lagos on the Algarve in July.
