Ep25 | Italy: Floating rocks and extreme fishing!
August 20, 2020 by Sailing Fair Isle | Language: EN Play Time: 00:22:46 | SAILING YOUTUBERS

The sword fishing boats in the Messina strait have to be seen to be believed, with a 30 meter high tower and an even longer bow sprit both with men perched precariously at the ends you get the feeling fact is stranger than fiction.
And to get to the Messina strait we sailed through Sicily and its volcanic islands so we had already run the gauntlet of the large floating rocks. I kid you not, rocks the size of our table that would take lumps out of the gel coat floating in the ocean. The strangeness of pumice.
We cover a lot of ground in this episode, sailing from Sardinia to Sicily and is amazing Aeolian Islands, then on the Italy. Great food, great scenery, really good sailing!.
