Blasting our way through the Grenadines | Ep107

Blasting Our Way Through the Grenadines | Ep107

In this episode, we continue our adventures through the stunning Grenadines with our youngest daughter Millie. This is her last week of her holiday, and we aim to show her the best that the Grenadines have to offer. Despite Jude flying back to the UK to help a mother move, it’s still a fun-filled episode, as we explore beautiful islands, swim with turtles, and ride horses for the first time in years. Exploring Mystique Island Mystique island is on Millie’s bucket list, so we make the trip to this exclusive destination. The journey there involves a bit of an upwind fight but is made enjoyable by having the right boat for going against the wind. Upon arrival, we find that everything about Mystique is colorful, including the tortoises. Horseback Riding and Golf Cart Fun The island of Mystique offers various sports, and we choose to enjoy horseback riding. Despite my initial nerves about not being on a boat or a horse, it turned out to be a delightful experience, with the beautiful Countryside as our backdrop. Swimming with Turtles As we return northward to pick up Millie for her flight back in St. Lucia, we find time for more adventure, such as swimming with turtles near Mystique island. The experience is both breathtaking and exciting, adding a magical touch to our time spent in the Grenadines. Finding Waterfalls Jude, Millie, and I venture into St. Lucia in search of a remote waterfall. Our previous visit to the top waterfall had left us disappointed with its commercial and touristy nature, so we set out on a jungle hike that led us to an unknown waterfall hidden deep in the interior. The Journey Back South After dropping Millie off for her flight back, Jude and I make our way south to avoid Hurricane season. The journey includes stops at beautiful islands and remote anchorages such as Moyreau and Petite Nique. These hidden gems allow us to enjoy the stunning beaches, lush forests, and the fascinating sea life, such as the frigate birds that swim near our boat. A Surprise Visit to Rond Island Our journey takes us to Rond island, an unexpected private and almost deserted island. This secluded paradise is located on the edge of an underwater volcano with some volcanic activity occurring at that time. Despite being close to the exclusion zone, there’s a small anchorage near the island for sailors seeking calm waters. Conclusion Our time in the Grenadines is filled with amazing experiences, such as swimming with turtles, horseback riding on Mystique island, and exploring remote waterfalls. Although some unexpected wind challenges come our way during the trip, we continue to embrace the unique opportunities that sailing through these beautiful islands provides. Next Time When Jude rejoins us, our next step is to visit the ABCs and plan a route for the rest of the season. We’ll keep you updated on that journey and share more exciting experiences as we navigate through the Caribbean Sea. Until Next Time As always, thank you for joining us on this incredible sailing journey. Until next time, fair winds and happy adventures await.
We are gradually working out the best places to go in the Grenadines. After finding what has to be one of the best anchorages we've ever been to in the Tobago Cays in the last episode, we aim to stick to some of the slightly more remote and less visited places between Grenada and St Lucia.
We also decide to visit Mustique, the exclusive island of the rich and famous and find one of the gems of the Caribbean, a truly fantastic place.
Riding horses in the sea, discovering forgotten waterfalls in the jungle, this episode has it all!
