Are the best anchorages in the Med just outside the Med?! | Ep99
As fantastic as the Mediterranean is, sometimes the anchorages can get a bit packed. They are also subject to the swells in the Med which sometimes come out of nowhere when you least expect them.
This is one of the reasons we love the lagoon anchorages in Southern Spain and Portugal, add to that the lovely villages, great food and lower prices than the Med and you’ll see the Algarve is a very attractive cruising ground.
Oh and with the prevailing wind out of the North you often have great flat water sailing too!
So I’m glad we’re getting to spend some time here and we are also choosing to lift the boat and get our prep for the Atlantic done here to at Sopromar boat yard in Lagos which everyone seems to like.

Sailing Fair Isle
We have sold our house in the UK and moved aboard our boat. She is a classic cutter rigged 48 foot Hans Christian; a very strong blue water boat more than capable of sailing around the world. Just hope we are! We are professional documentary filmmakers working for the BBC and many other TV stations around the world. Broadcasters aren't interested in commissioning sailing programs these days so we are launching our channel online. Sailing Fair Isle is aiming to be more than just a vlog showing our travels. It will be a travel log, but also a documentary style show with proper content and broadcast technical standards. That's the plan anyway. Lets see how it goes.
