I just sailed solo from the UK to Belgium – through the busiest shipping lane in the world (500-600 ships per day), at a time of year when the weather is notoriously bad…

Was my first ever solo sailing trip a challege? Ohhhhh yes!!
Did I enjoy it? I LOVED IT!!!

Background info: We decided as a family that it was more efficient for me to spend some time on my own on the boat to get the essentials done as quickly as possible (I can work a lot quicker on my own and the boat could be left full of tools and semi-completed jobs without them being a danger to Emma.) It then made sense for me to sail to mainland Europe on my own as this allowed me to concentrate on the passage itself and making videos of my first ever single handed sailing adventure!

Normally I have to go away from my family for my offshore work, on this occasion it was to get the boat where we needed it to be to set us up for our Canal trip down the entire length of France next year. It has been very tough to be apart, but we believe this decision is best for our family in the long-run.

Rossella and Emma are both doing great, and I cannot wait to see them as soon as I possibly can!

⛈ï¸ðŸŒŠ ðŸŒªï¸ For anyone in the UK, here is the link to the great value foul weather gear which has kept me dry and toasty during this trip âžœ https://amzn.to/2MoWbnG

And here is a link to the screwgate karabiners I’ve been using as midship cleats (Very cheap but strong and they work a treat for me!) âžœ https://amzn.to/32pjHpV

(If you buy via the above links we may get a teeny weeny commission from Amazon, at no extra cost to you.)
