We sail to Santorini by catamaran and anchor on the quieter east side of the island for a short one-night stop.
Santorini is spectacular from the water — huge volcanic cliffs, white villages high above the sea, cruise ships, ferries, tourist boats, and that strange feeling of arriving somewhere you have seen in photos so many times before.
But visiting Santorini by boat is not as simple as it looks. The famous caldera is deep, sheltered anchoring options are limited, and the island itself is one of the busiest places in Greece. For us, Santorini was beautiful, impressive, and absolutely worth seeing — but also not somewhere we felt we needed to stay for long.
In this episode we arrive aboard Bluefish, take in the scale of Santorini from the water, anchor on the east side, and experience one of Greece’s most famous islands from the perspective of a family living full-time aboard a Lagoon 42 catamaran.
It is not our usual quiet Greek island stop, but it is one of those places you remember.
We’re Sailing Bluefish — Fredrik from Sweden, Laura from the UK, and our two New Zealand-born boys, living full-time aboard our Lagoon 42 catamaran in the Mediterranean.
Thanks for watching — it means a lot to us.
