Corinth Canal Closed | Sailing Our Lagoon 42 Around Greece
Because the Corinth Canal is closed, we cannot take the shortcut through Greece — so we have to sail the long way around the Peloponnese to get Bluefish back towards the Ionian.
In this episode, we continue along the southern Peloponnese aboard Bluefish, our Lagoon 42 catamaran, and round Cape Tainaron — one of the most exposed and historically feared capes in Greece.
There is not much wind, but around the cape the sea is still unsettled. Swell rolls in, waves rebound off the cliffs, and the water becomes confused as we work our way around the coast.
This is not a big fast sailing day. It is a moving-the-boat day — making miles, watching the sea state, keeping the sails ready, and getting Bluefish safely around the cape.
As the sea settles, we continue west and anchor for the night in Methoni, below the castle walls.
The next morning, we keep heading north along the west coast towards Navarino Bay, a place we have visited before and one we all really like. Once we arrive, the pace changes completely.
Navarino Bay is a great place for wingfoiling and learning, so Lucas and Noa get the gear out and start working on longer runs, better balance, and getting more comfortable on the foil.
This episode is about the reality of full-time boat life: not always new places or perfect sailing, but routing, weather, familiar anchorages, and slowly working our way around Greece one passage at a time.
