We Came to Tahiti to Fix One Problem…
After waiting out 30-knot winds in Cook’s Bay, Moorea, we finally get the weather window we need to make the short trip to Tahiti — where we’re hoping to finally get some answers about an electrical problem that has been following us for months.
But first, there’s fishing line wrapped around our anchor chain, a whale along the way, and an interesting arrival into Tahiti’s Airport Anchorage that requires permission from Port Control to cross the end of the runway.
Once ashore, we haul all three of our alternators across Papeete to a recommended repair shop… only to discover that, once again, fixing a boat is never quite as simple as you think it’s going to be.
While we wait for answers, life goes on. We clean up Big Lost, reunite with cruising friends, enjoy a little taste of civilization, and finish the weekend snorkeling L’Aquarium with the crew of SV Palarran — exploring a sunken Cessna and two shipwrecks beneath the waters of Tahiti.
