We Came for Paradise We Found Something Better

We crossed an ocean chasing paradise.

What we found was something even more valuable.

For months, our family had been working toward this moment. Crossing the Pacific meant weather windows, long passages, constant planning, and the relentless pursuit of the next destination. Every mile brought us closer to French Polynesia, but somewhere along the way we forgot what it felt like to simply slow down.

When we finally reached Tikehau in the Tuamotus Islands of French Polynesia, we gave ourselves permission to stop chasing the next goal and simply exist.

No schedule. No pressure. Just quiet mornings, beach campouts, bonfires with friends, tubing through crystal-clear water, exploring Tikehau's beautiful Garden of Eden, and rediscovering the joy that comes from living in the moment.

Sometimes the greatest adventures aren't measured in miles sailed.

They're measured in laughter around a campfire, children reconnecting with friends, and the community you find when you least expect it.

If you've ever wondered what life is really like after a Pacific crossing, this is our story.

Things Our Kids Think Are Normal

Most kids grow up with neighborhoods. Ours is the ocean. From school on our sailboat to making friends from around the world, taking the dinghy on their own, camping on remote islands, and building beach fires, this is simply "normal" for them. We're not t...

Before Everyone Wakes Up… 🦈

Some mornings, if I'm lucky, I wake up before the rest of the crew and take my paddleboard out for a little peace and quiet. On this morning, I wasn't the only one awake. Life aboard our catamaran in French Polynesia is full of moments like these—simple,...
