In 48 hours, we enter the Panama Canal.
But right now… it still feels like just another work week.
Before a major milestone like a Panama Canal transit, life doesn’t look dramatic. It looks like cleaning engine rooms, repairing sails, servicing our dinghy motor, switching Starlink to DC power, and finishing the small jobs that matter offshore.
Shelter Bay Marina in Colón, Panama is filled with boats preparing for the same crossing. Oversized fenders hang from lifelines. Heavy canal lines are coiled on deck. Every boat here is pointed toward the Pacific.
These are our final days tied to the dock before we untie the lines and enter the locks.
Next week: We transit the Panama Canal.
⚓ Follow our family sailing full-time aboard SV Big Lost as we prepare to cross into the Pacific.
If you’re new here, we’re a family of four sailing full-time and preparing for a Pacific crossing.
