S2E26 painting and rigging the mast, a new crew member, and other updates (Dominican Republic)

Join us as we dive into some recent updates from our friends at Sailing Artha, as they continue their remarkable journey in the beautiful waters of the Dominican Republic.

Rudder Painting Progress

Craig has been hard at work on a project that many may not have noticed, but it is essential for the smooth and efficient functioning of the vessel. He’s working diligently on refinishing and perfecting the rudder.

The front edge of the rudder, where the penil are going to be mounted, looks great, and the fit of the pin into the gons on the transom is perfect. The back edge also looks amazing after the extensive fairing.

Boom Stripping and Sanding

Sailing Artha has recently made excellent progress in preparing various parts of their boat for painting. In a recent update, they’ve been working hard to strip the boom of its hardware before starting the sanding process.

Copper Coating the Mast

Another crucial update is the preparation of their mast for painting. Brock and Sailing Artha have spent a significant amount of time sanding down the mast and getting it ready to receive its copper coating.

WELCOME BOOM – A New Crew Member!

Sailing Artha recently expanded their crew when they brought home a new furry friend from the pet clinic, named him ‘Boom,’ after he slammed into their life like a boom on a sailboat. He’s been joining them on their walks and adventures around the area.

Looking Forward to a Splash Date

The crew at Sailing Artha has been hard at work on their vessel and is eagerly anticipating their next splash date. Keep an eye out for more updates from this adventurous team as they continue their journey in the Dominican Republic.

Lots of little projects start to come together, and be sure to stick through the video at least til 11:30 when you can meet my new crew member 😁
Little side notes:
I sanded the boom by hand because it’s slightly concave and the random sander wouldn’t fit right.
I’ve found that I tend to keep my appetite when meat is cooked in soup, rather than just as a side.
