On this week’s Sailaway episode, we open up about all the difficulties of board life that led us to where we are now and what it almost meant for our cruising life. We discuss the burnout that ensued and how normal seemed appealing at the time.
We still have all these things that we know we need to get done on this boat before we cross the Atlantic, and our current headspace has changed since deciding to come to St Martin. While here, we’re tearing apart a lot of stuff but not putting much back together.
Our plans now include getting some projects done on the boat, exploring nearby areas like Dominica, and going down to Grenada for a couple of months if something threatening is in our neighborhood. We’re also committing to being at the Annapolis boat show again in October.
In this episode, we also discuss our new point of use water heater experiment. We hope it will save on cost and efficiency for a cruising boat like ours.
As usual, there’s plenty of family life updates too. We’ve been making banana bread, working on office and desk spaces on the boat, planning meals like burgers with cucumbers, and even getting in some exercise and paddling.
We were in a bad place but now we’re transitioning to better things as we discuss in this week’s Sailaway.
/wp:quote –>NOW WE'RE HERE. Life's OBSTACLES often MAKE YOU STRONGER. That's how the first year of life on OPHELIA felt. And now, SHE'S getting the SAME TREATMENT. We've begun TEARING HER DOWN knowing that in the end she'll be a MUCH BETTER BOAT. We find ourselves tearing apart numerous areas at the same time and realize...it's gonna be a messy year as we prep for new ELECTRIC MOTORS. Enjoy!! And be sure to SUBSCRIBE for WEEKLY CONTENT EVERY SUNDAY! Cheers!!
