A quick update on some of the projects aboard. I do some prep work for the stuff I'll acturally be doing aboard the boat next weekend. And I get to enjoy cold water thanks to my Isotherm "convert your icebox into a fridge" kit.

I want to add more insulation and also wooden slats in my V-berth. Once I move aboard the boat I want to be as comfortable as possible during the long cold winter. In this video, I remove strips of the old insulation to make room for the stringers I'll be ...
Sanding sucks! I finish sanding the inside of the hull in preparation for putting up stringers and wooden slats (called ceiling aboard a boat). Thanks to the awesome comments on my previous video I've learned that pine is not the best species of wood for t...
This video was shot Sunday morning (before getting to the "real" work I had planned that day). I wanted to hold off on using power tools until nobody in the marina was at sleep anymore. The video gives a quick glimpse into some upcoming projects/tasks aboa...
I finally get to epoxy in the stringers in my v-berth. Soon I'll have a nice and comfortable v-berth to sleep in when I move aboard the boat. A little bit of insulation should go a long way in making life aboard more comfortable this coming winter. A big t...
Painting the vertical "stringers". Things are starting to shape up! I have no doubt I'll be nice and toasty up in my v-berth this winter. Fingers crossed the house will sell soon so I can move aboard the boat!
A couple of the bolts in my deck-hull joint have started leaking after 40+ years. Luckily cleaning and rebedding them is very easy! I use simple ethanol to dissolve the old butyl tape and rebed using new butyl tape. Good for another 40 years ;)

Up goes the insulation, down goes my courage after discovering it takes much longer than anticipated. Knowing that my v-berth will be much more comfortable this winter is what's keeping me going right now ;) The house still hasn't sold, but I should have a...
I managed to find a combination oven (microwave + convection) that is tiny enough to fit aboard my boat. As a liveaboard that is going to make a huge difference! Sure cooking my meals in such a tiny oven is going to take some getting use to but I'm sure it...
I share my initial thoughts about the MAS Epoxies products I received from blackbearboatingandleisure.com. In short: I'm impressed. I look forward to using the products from MAS Epoxies for more projects aboard my boat! And also to do some through testing ...
I finally get to test fit the mahogany slats for the ceiling aboard Obelix! Yay! :) Looks pretty swanky if you ask me ;) And it'll keep me nice and warm once I move aboard the boat and finally become a full-time liveaboard :)
The old mattress in the v-berth aboard Obelix is the original mattress from 1973... yup, it's 42 years old! It's worn out and not at all comfortable to sleep on. It's got to go before I move aboard the boat :)

Looks like the insulation of the v-berth will turn out to be a nine part series. Yes, I'm close to being done! Yay! In this episode, I have the pleasure of sanding and applying the first couple of coats of varnish. I hope all of this work will pay off when...
Thank you so much, guys! I was blown away by the response to the video where I announced I had finally sold the house. I'm busy packing and sorting out the last minute projects aboard the boat, but I wanted to take a minute to thank you. Your support means...
Finally guys! I'm done insulating the v-berth. It's been a lot of work, and I certainly hope I'll be a noticeable difference in how comfortable the v-berth is this winter. This will be my first winter living full-time aboard the boat, but I do have my two ...
I've only got three days till I need to move out of the house. The new owner was here yesterday and I gave her a quick tour of the house. She seemed like an awesome person :) Now the pressure is on to get all of my things sorted out before I move aboard th...
Tomorrow is the day! The day I move aboard my boat on a permanent basis. I'll officially be a liveaboard. I'm super stoked! Having said that I look forward to relaxing a bit - and shooting videos without being stressed ;) The last two weeks have been crazy...
After two weeks of hard work it finally happened! I can now officially call myself a liveaboard. Yay! BTW the pictures of the house I mention in the video are on my NAS box which is at my parents place and switched off so those pictures will have to wait :...
In the hope of not dying in a fire explosion, I'm bringing the LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) installation aboard up to code. All I'm able to fit aboard my boat are two 3 kg butane canisters. That'll have to do :) Luckily I've found some plans on the intern...
The items I need to bring the installation up to code didn't show up. That's okay :) I still have to finish the box. I'm really looking forward to having a working stove! That'll make living aboard much more convenient. Summer is over and it's starting to ...

Yup! I went sailing today but only for a few hours. In fact, the purpose was many to do some harbour manoeuvres but it turns out there is so much stuff growing under the boat that it's only barely able to motor. When I got back to the boat I got started on...
In February and March, I'll cross the Atlantic from Portugal to the Caribbean via Cape Verde aboard a Westsail 42. I'll be crewing for Eric Forsyth. I'm super stoked for this chance to learn from such an amazing guy and for the chance to get to know the We...

In preparation for winter and in the hopes of getting an early start on next years sailing season I've put Obelix up on the hard. Lots of things to take care of! She's slowly but surely starting to look like a boat again :D
Another day up on the hard - one step closer to being back in the water :) I replace the VHF cable in my mast and prep to mount a NASA wind instrument.

I solder on the new PL259 connectors and paint (most of) the bottom. As soon as I get the cutlass bearing replaced I'll be back in the water again. Yay!
I'm feeling a bit under the weather so please excuse this video if it's a bit off :) All I managed to do today was to take care of a few tiny tasks aboard the boat.
Out comes the engine! Fingers crossed all new gaskets in the gearbox will fix the leak :)
Something AWESOME is coming!
