Engine problems! My trusty old (42 years) Volvo Penta MD6A needs some attention. I noticed a pool of oil under the engine. Turns out it's from the gearbox. My best guess is that I may have run the engine a little hard on the last day of my summer cruise. I...

The first day of my 2014 winter cruise from Randers to Skive. I had a lot of fun with Lærke and Chrisitan although the trip didn't go quite as I had hoped. I chose to leave Obelix in Udbyhøj in...
My worst day of sailing so far! I was miserable! I've never been seasick before, but I got to try that today. Spent 8 hours motoring directly into icy cold wind. Not a fun time but at least I made it safely into Hals Harbor.

This video explains why I moved my boat to another marina. It's all about my hopes and dreams for the future. I want to give living aboard a try. If I can handle living aboard I'll be able to save up money to go cruising for an extended period of time.

I've run the cable needed to get shorepower to a bunch of outlets in the boat. I've also made a prototype for a gangplank that will allow my dog to get on and off the boat without me lifting him. I had to cut this video a bit short as one of the liveaboard...

I'm going to spend the next two weeks aboard Obelix with my dog. The goal is to figure out if I can move aboard my boat on a permanent basis. The 230V outlet installation is done and they are all working great. I'm trying to figure out how much insulation ...
I'm a few days behind on replying to comments and emails. I've been sick for the past two days. I thought I was getting better but as you can probably tell by the end of this video that wasn't the case. I wanted to publish this video to wish all of you guy...
I'm having a great time aboard! The cold isn't a problem at all. For a long time, I've wanted to add some more lights for when sailing at night. Turns out the RGB LED strips cost the same as the ones with only red light. Click "show more" to get the link f...
Condensation was a significant issue during the first days of my livaboard test. It may sound a bit silly, but I'm very surprised at how much humidity affects the amount of condensation. I went from having pools of condensation on the cabin sole to having ...
I'm back aboard after spending New Years Eve at my house. My keel stepped mast is leaking water into the boat whenever it rains. The water enters the boat inside the mast. If I want a carpet on the cabin sole, I'll need to handle both the leaky mast and th...
Two bits of awesome news. I got a new camera, and I'll be visiting the US later this year. Quick update on the carpet I mentioned in my liveaboard videos.
I really miss having a fridge aboard. Should I convert my icebox into a fridge?

I want to see if I can get a better air circulation inside the boat. My primary goal is to try and minimize the temperature difference between the air at the cabin sole vs. the air at the cabin top. I've read good things about those Hella Marine Fans so I ...
I ended up having to fit the carpet myself. The quote, I got from the carpet guy, was ridiculous expensive! Short update on the storm named Egon and my upcoming trip to the US. Life Is Like Sailings video on fitting a carpet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
What does it cost to heat the boat? How much does the Refleks stove consume? This is essentially the same question to me as I almost exclusively use the stove to heat my boat - except during storms ;) I've gotten the question a bunch of times. Here is a sh...
